When you get to a red light, you need to stop.
In my case, it’s my hand. I’ve developed carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand. I tried ignoring it for a while, but it’s only gotten worse and now I’ve scheduled the surgery.
If nothing else, it’s time for my right hand to take a break! It follows that it makes sense for the rest of me to step back for a few weeks as well.
I started my blog at Christian Middle three years ago. Since New Year’s Day of 2015, I’ve posted something every week.
The challenge to articulate my thoughts about what it means to believe in God, to follow Christ, to read the Bible appropriately, and to live into what God is calling each of us to, continues to sharpen my mind and heart and enliven my spirit. It has been the “must” in a life, superseding all the “shoulds.”* While it’s a place in my life that has drawn me closer to the Lord, it has meant the world to me that so many of you have encouraged my work as well.
For now, however, I know I need to submit to the wisdom of accepting my limitations.
In other words, I’m taking a small sabbatical. I should be recovered from my hand surgery by mid-October and then I’ll return to my weekly posts.
I look forward to seeing what God will do in my life during this “vacation” from writing. I know I won’t be able to resist keeping notes on my thoughts and I’ll be anxious to share them when I get back into regular writing again.
In the meantime, I encourage you to check out my website: www.christianmiddle.com/blog and hopefully some of my past posts will speak to you in my absence.
As always, thank you for lending your ears.
