Here we are at Thanksgiving and this year I have something new to be thankful for – you, my readers.
I always wanted to be a writer. While it felt like a big accomplishment to publish my book, Does It Really Say That in the Bible?, the commitment I made to post weekly in my blog is what has really given me the confidence to claim that identity. What a gift all of you who have read and often responded to my work have given me with your cheers and reassurances. I am deeply thankful.
But I must share also, the huge gratitude I owe to God for sustaining me in this endeavor. Each week has been a lesson in the Lord’s faithfulness. In the beginning, I struggled even with the format of blogging, but God sent wonderful helpers into my sphere who guided me along – the first being my daughter (such a delight!). I’ve definitely burned some midnight oil on Wednesday nights trying to refine and improve whatever I’ve worked on earlier in the week. Often, I’ve looked at my writing on that eve of publishing with the sentiment, “I guess this will just have to do,” only to receive God’s last minute inspiration that delivers a new thought t0 sharpen the message. Then there have been the posts that I feared were less than they should have been only to find you responding in ways that I didn’t expect. Your comments always serve to “make my day” and confirm the worthiness of my continued efforts.
A year’s practice has taught me that this work represents more than the mere fulfillment of a youthful aspiration. God continues to demonstrate to me the willingness to collaborate with me in this venture. I can’t yet see to what end, but it is exciting to experience the Lord’s encouragement, especially as it comes from you.
Thank you so much!
